Doug Lambert

Doug grew up in a family with music in its bones. His dad was a young drummer from the big band era playing in a jazz  band before being called off to serve in WWII. His mom was a talented pianist playing musical hits and other classics on an upright Gulbransen piano, which was the centerpiece of the Lambert household. Doug was a serious  trombonist throughout his school years. (Just ask his sister, Sandy, who would hide his mouthpiece in the freezer to keep him from playing at all hours!) Doug played gigs in various jazz bands, a stint in the renowned Springfield Youth Symphony, and yes, even the Springfield Polka Band!

OK…, also during high school… Doug discovered the guitar. His major influencers included Neil Young, Jim Croce, Gordon  Lightfoot, John Denver, Cat Stevens, and others. He spent much of his free time throughout the following 30 years  capturing the many nuances of the acoustic guitar from the ‘70’s era. Before forming Pick Too Trio, Doug and his buddy Ron Culbreath (an Ambassador of Harmony alum) formed the duo Crooner and Strum. Crooner and Strum’s specialties include hits styled after the likes of Sinatra, Buble, and others, balanced with generous amounts of Young, Croce, and Stevens.
